Message and NOT the transmission itself is pretty common. If you send in the drawings and they make the tranny to those exact specs from "YOUR" drawings, If there is an issue with being wrong, the problem is from the specs you gave them therefore, it is your fault and there is no way they can be held responsible because you supplied them with wrong specs.

Now, If they get the tranny, drawup its dimensions and spec it out, spend hours upon hours manufacturing the unit, build 100 transmissions, and they are 1mm off and the units are deemed unusable, the problem is on "THEM" and they will have to eat it.
Nowadays, a lot of tech depts want you to supply exact measurements and they will make it to your specs. It allows for less chance of error as opposed to them getting the tranny, taking measurements, being 1mm off and then eating the costs...Just FYI.
